On April 13th, the players, coaches and parents of all five NFL Flag San Diego youth flag football leagues will get the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience that only NFL Flag San Diego offers to its players and their parents of all the youth flag football leagues in the greater Southern California area.  Members of the National Football League’s Los Angeles Chargers will come out to Walnut Grove Park in San Marcos from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to meet and interact with our youth flag football athletes and their parents.  NFL Flag San Diego’s youth flag football leagues have been featuring a pro day every spring since 2015. This is one of the highlights of our calendar every year for our players and coaches and is one of the unique aspects that makes NFL Flag San Diego such a special experience for our players. The Pro Day experience is only available to our players and their families due to our exclusive affiliation with the National Football League through the NFL’s Play 60 initiative.

NFL Flag San Diego Pro Day 2019

Members of the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers will come out to interact with our players for a day of fun, football and competition on April 13th.  It will not be a simple photo op like many interactions between professional athletes and young athletes where a professional player rolls up in a fancy car with an entourage, takes several pictures, exchanges a word or two with one or two of the young players, and then leaves after five minutes of minimal interactions between the professional players and the young athletes.

Instead, our Spring Pro Day will feature not only instruction of our young players by some of the game’s most successful professional players, but the opportunity for both players and their parents to get to know the players in a smaller, more intimate environment. The NFL players participating will be announced on April 8th, and they will be at Walnut Grove Park for three hours on April 13th to sign autographs, take pictures with our young athletes and their parents and help to coach the youngsters.  Turnout is expected to be excellent, as more than 8,000 of our players and their parents showed up for our Spring 2018 Pro Day.  Instead of playing in five separate locations as they do during regular weeks, teams from all the NFL Flag San Diego leagues will come together in a single location to play their games on Spring Pro Day 2019.

Many of the NFL players that participate each year say this is one of their favorite events of the year due to the huge effect that they can tell it has on our young players.  Our sister youth sports organization Hard Count Athletics and one of their skills camps recently featured Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill.  Hill enjoyed the experience so much that he both posted pictures to his Instagram account with pictures and details regarding the camp and said, “My first @HardCountAthletics camp is officially in the books! San Diego brought it today! Thank you to everyone who made today a huge success!” as well as on his personal blog.
