NFL Flag San Diego recently had its spring 2019 Super Bowl after a competitive and exciting spring season, and both the Super Bowl as well as the regular season and the playoffs leading up to that Super Bowl could not have been more successful.  It is always gratifying for the parents and coaches to see the results of the hard work that all of our young athletes put into their practices and games on a week-in and week-out basis throughout the season come to fruition when all our teams from our five separate leagues came together in a single location at Escondido High School and vie to be be the Super Bowl champion in each respective age group and division.

All of the teams played hard and it was a pure joy for youth flag football and youth sports enthusiasts to see the players out on the field competing and giving it their best as a team.

NFL San Diego Offers a Unique Experience for Each Child

As we have done in years past, NFL San Diego offered both competitive and recreational leagues in the majority of our age group divisions during our spring 2019 season to allow athletes of different skills levels to choose just the type of experience that each athlete was looking for.  The recreational leagues are for those who may be new to the game and are just starting out.  Our recreational leagues offer a guaranteed amount of playing time for each player that is monitored by the referees at each of our games.  Our recreational leagues are the perfect solution for players who are just beginning to participate in flag football or organized sports more generally and give players an opportunity to hone the fundamental skills that will help them to succeed in an environment where wins and losses do not matter, but improving a player’s grasp of the game and the fundamentals matter most of all.

On the other hand, our competitive leagues are designed to help players who often have played competitive flag football for years and may be looking to compete against the most experienced and seasoned players in their particular age group.  Our competitive division allows players to sharpen their skill even further against some of the best youth athletes around.  They also give every player the opportunity to play in each and every game; at the same the competitive level allows more room for the individual coaches to manage the teams and playing times for each player as they see fit within the larger goal of working with each player not only on developing their individual skills but also on developing important skills like leadership and learning how to work together as a team towards a shared goal.

The 2019 NFL Flag San Diego Spring Super Bowl: A Fitting End to a Successful Spring Season

The 2019 NFL Flag San Diego Spring Super Bowl took place on Sunday, May 5 at Escondido High School.  Teams from all five of our leagues (San Diego, Poway, North County, Chula Vista and Inland Valley) all came together to determine the true champions in each age group and division from the greater San Diego area. The Super Bowl was a wonderful chance for players who may not see each other regularly to not only compete against one another, but to renew old friendships or to form new friendships.

The winners of the Spring 2019 Super Bowl in each respective age group were the following teams:

  • Pre K- Kinder
    • Gold Champions: Packers (Coach Galeai)
    • Silver Champions: Chiefs (Coach Sean)
  • 1st-2nd grade
    • Gold Champions: Chargers (Coach Cella)
    • Silver Champions Raiders (Coach Jason)
  • 3rd-4th grade
    • Gold Champions: Seahawks ( Coach Kearney)
    • Silver Champions: Jaguars (Coach Von Behren)
  • 5th-6th grade
    • Gold Competitive: 760 Savages (Coach Diaz)
    • Gold Recreational: Ravens (Coach Durham)
    • Silver: Seahawks (Coach Watkins)

  • 10U Competitive: Chargers (Coach Cella)
  • 12U Competitive: High Intensify (Coach Taumoepeau)

Each team and its respective coaches deserve a hearty round of applause on a job well-done in not only achieving great success during the spring 2019 regular season, but also in putting it all together as a team during the playoffs to become Super Bowl champions.
