NFL Flag San Diego recently concluded its Winter 2020 season, which had the highest turnout of any of our winter leagues to date.  Although the fall and spring seasons are our two most popular and busiest seasons for youth flag football in the San Diego area, winter is now turning out to be an extremely popular time of year for our young athletes and parents to participate in the country’s fastest growing youth sport.

Not only was the turnout great this season, but the competition was even better.  We featured our popular Gold and Silver divisions in each age group in the playoffs held on February 6th and 7th.  Offering all the teams, including those which may have experienced less success during the regular season, the chance to compete against teams with similar regular season records is just one more way that we stay focused on making sure our young athletes have the best flag football experience possible.

The Winter 2020 Playoffs

The following teams were triumphant in the Winter 2020 playoffs:

  • PreK/K Gold: 49ers (Coach Billy)
  • PreK/K Silver: Patriots (Coach Alfonso)
  • 1st/2nd Comp: Cowboys (Coach Lopez)
  • 1st/2nd Gold: Steelers (Coach Harrison)
  • 1st/2nd Silver: Seahawks (Coach Palomarez)
  • 3rd/4th Gold: Seahawks (Coach Ricardo)
  • 3rd/4th Silver: Chiefs (Coach Reed)
  • 5th/6th Silver: Patriots (Coach Mike)
  • 5th/6th Gold: 49ers (Coach Gideon)
  • 7th/8th Silver: Saints (Coach Baker)
  • 7th/8th Gold: Buccaneers (Coach Alfaro)

Each of these teams and their coaches deserve hearty congratulations for triumphing over what was truly some difficult competition in order to hoist their championship trophies.

The NFL Flag San Diego Spring 2020 Youth Flag Football Season

Only a short month after completion of the winter playoffs, our spring 2020 season starts the weekend of March 13th and 14th and is going to consist of eight weeks of regular season play followed by playoffs and a Super Bowl.  We will offer games in four different locations on Friday nights and Saturdays: games at our Chula Vista location on Friday night at Montevalle Park, our North County games will be played on Friday night at Conners/Los Posas Parks, Poway games will be played on Friday night at Meadowbrook Middle School, while our San Diego site games will played on Saturdays at Kearny High School.  One of the highlights of the Spring league is that it features our annual NFL Player Day, when our young athletes get the chance to meet some of their heroes and interact in a fun environment that is only available through NFL Flag San Diego due to its affiliation with the National Football League and USA Football.
