Congratulations are in order for Team High Intensity of NFL Flag San Diego, which made the parents, coaches, players and the people of greater San Diego community proud as a result of their great success at the recent NFL Flag Championships powered by USA Football in Orlando, Florida.  Played as a part of the week of festivities surrounding the National Football League's Pro Bowl 2018, the players of Team High Intensity Rams competed in the 13/14 team division at the NFL Flag Football National Championships and finished eighth out of a field of 36 teams representing youth flag football leagues from across the country.  The national championships were part of the festivities surrounding the NFL Pro Bowl on January 28th and the championship game was played in the same stadium as the NFL Pro Bowl and was televised on ESPN.  Out of 36 teams representing leagues from across the country, Team High Intensity managed to compete with the best of the best and represent NFL Flag San Diego and the greater San Diego community by achieving great success for the second year in a row.  The team’s hard work, dedication and teamwork helped not only to shine the national spotlight on San Diego, but on a youth sports scene that is one of the country’s finest.

A History of Excellence at the National Stage by Team High Intensity

This was Team High Intensity’s third trip in a row to the NFL Flag National Championships.  This is quite an accomplishment given the intensely competitive nature of NFL Flag Football, which offers the largest organized youth flag football league in the country.  Nationwide, more than 300,000 players complete in NFL Flag Football youth leagues.  However, this accomplishment is even more impressive given that this was not only the third year in a row that Team High Intensity made it to the national championships but the team’s second year in a row placing in the top 8 teams at the NFL Flag Football national championships.  Guided by Coaches John and Charlie Taumoepeau and supported by a large contingent of parents cheering them on from the sidelines who made the trip from San Diego to Orlando to support the team, the Team High Intensity Rams made all NFL Flag San Diego players proud and represented our great city on a national stage in the finest way possible.

Putting NFL Flag San Diego and the City of San Diego on the Youth Flag Football Map

The team’s success has helped to put NFL Flag San Diego and the athletic talent in Southern California on the map.  From a  fledgling league in 2012 started by two brothers who wanted to bring flag football to the greater San Diego area, to offering recreational and competitive divisions in 2016 to offering a year round flag football through the introduction of winter leagues in 2018, NFL Flag San Diego has developed into a model of success for youth flag football leagues throughout the country.  Not only have the number of participants in both our recreational and competitive leagues increased exponentially in our short six years in existence, but our teams have had great success on the national stage due to our players’ hard work, teamwork and devotion to the sport.  The success recently enjoyed by the Team High Intensity Rams in Orlando is simply a testament to the great work that the youth, parents and coaches in the greater San Diego area are doing to encourage our children to compete hard, play as a team and give it their all.
