NFL Flag San Diego’s spring flag football season kicks off on March 16th and 17th. Featuring eight games and then the playoffs, this season is set to be our biggest yet and a massive success. Despite this being just the fifth year that NFL Flag San Diego has offered San Diego area youth the ability to compete in a flag football league, over 1,800 youth players have signed up. This level of success would not be possible without the participation and contributions made by both the parents and coaches who make everything we do at NFL Flag San Diego possible. It also is a testament to the growing popularity of flag football throughout the San Diego area. Although sign-ups for the spring season are over, male and female youth football players can sign up for our next league or catch up on some progression-based training that we have partnered with our sister company,Hard Count Athletics, to offer NFL Flag San Diego and other area players.
From its simple start as the idea of NFL Flag San Diego founders Greg and Chris Williams to bring the opportunity to participate in youth flag football to San Diego youth of both sexes in 2013, NFL Flag San Diego has exploded in popularity. NFL Flag San Diego now offers more than 5,000 youths of all ages and both sexes the opportunity to develop their leadership, teamwork and physical skills in a fun, team-based format that fosters camaraderie among the members of our small, tight knit youth flag football teams every year. NFL Flag San Diego has grown in its short five years in existence to be one of the best flag football leagues in California. With more than 400 teams throughout the greater San Diego area in communities like Chula Vista, Ramona, Poway, Inland Valley and North County, NFL Flag San Diego is only poised to continue its explosive growth as more and more youth in the San Diego area become interested in flag football. The spring league will play for approximately two months before culminating in the spring league play-offs on May 11th and 12th and the Spring League Super Bowl the following weekend.
NFL Flag San Diego powered by USA Football is affiliated with the National Football League through its NFL Play 60 initiative, a program designed to curb the national scourge of childhood obesity that has afflicted the United States by encouraging children to get at least 60 minutes of exercise per day. Through this affiliation, NFL San Diego is able to offer players the chance to participate in the Spring Pro Day event on April 21st, during which the youth flag football players will get the chance to interact with NFL players and meet some of their idols in person. Aside from the benefits that its affiliation with the NFL brings, the leagues offered by NFL Flag San Diego are also kept small by design to ensure that every player receives a significant amount of game time action. Keeping teams small also encourages participants in our leagues the chance to form lasting bonds with their teammates and to learn how to work through adversity and towards a common goal as part of a group. This essential team-building is only becoming more important as the workforce continues to require--and reward--those who are team players and work well in groups with others from diverse backgrounds. Finally, NFL Flag San Diego also offers both competitive and recreational divisions, so if your child is hesitant to play flag football because he or she has never participated before, then there are multiple options for him or her to choose from in terms of the format in which he or she feels most comfortable participating. At NFL Flag San Diego, we do our best to make sure that every child is comfortable and has fun in a safe, nurturing environment in which every child is encouraged to become his or her best-no matter where he or she is starting from.
If you are in the San Diego area and your son or daughter is interested in participating in one of California’s top flag football leagues, then consider NFL Flag San Diego. Offering both competitive and recreational divisions in a variety of different age-group divisions, our league guarantees every player a significant amount of playing time and gives players the chance to make friends, be a part of a small, tight-knit team, meet current and former National Football League players and participate in a sport that could land your child the chance to play in a nationally televised national championship game on ESPN. While requiring a minimum time commitment with practices only once per week and games once per week, NFL Flag San Diego offers year round opportunities for children from kindergarten through tenth grade to participate in flag football.
