After a very successful regular season for all our fall 2018 leagues, we are now set to begin playoffs on November 3rd, 9th, and 10th, leading up to the Super Bowl championships on November 11th for leagues offered by NFL Flag San Diego throughout the greater San Diego area.  The playoffs and championships will be the conclusion of a successful season that saw our young players learn the value of working together as teammates towards a common goal-- success on the field--and also push themselves to develop their individual skills to the maximum extent possible.

The NFL Flag San Diego Fall 2018 Playoffs

We are constantly assessing how we are doing as an organization based upon parent, coach and player feedback to ensure that our leagues are giving the kids the best experiences possible. As a result, we decided to try out a different format for the playoffs this year in an effort to maximize the fun for our players and give them an optimal experience during the playoffs and championships.  Specifically, this year we listened to the parents and coaches on what improvements they wanted to see in our playoffs.  The resounding answer was that both parents and coaches wanted to see additional opportunities for every team, including those which may not have finished at the top of the standings, to compete in the playoffs for a chance to win a championship.

Therefore, in response to this feedback and to allow more of our teams and players to have a shot at winning a championship, we added a third division to our playoffs.  Now, instead of two brackets  in each age group division competing against each other, we created a third bracket for the teams to compete in the playoffs and potentially win a championship.  Our new Silver bracket will feature all teams with three or four losses and enable them to compete against one another in the playoffs and the bracket winners will advance to the Super Bowl, with the champions in each age group receiving trophies at the end.  These are teams that previously would have played against the top teams in the league in our old playoff format.

Teams that finished with five or more losses during the regular season will compete against one another in the Wild Card Division, with the champions in each group receiving medals once only one victorious team is left standing.  Finally, our Gold Division will feature all teams with zero, one or two losses competing against one another and the Gold Division champions will receive championship rings after the division Super Bowl has taken place and only one team has emerged victorious.

In terms of the logistics, playoffs for the San Diego location will begin on November 3rd and games will continue in the Wild Card Division until a champion is crowned, while in the Silver and Gold Divisions, games will be played until division winners in each age group have been determined.  On November 9th, the playoffs will begin for our North County, Poway and Chula Vista locations, with the Wild Card Division champions being crowned for each division that day.

On November 10th, playoffs will begin for the teams from Inland Empire and champions in the Wild Card Division will be crowned, while division winners will be determined in each of the Gold and Silver Divisions to compete in the Super Bowl the next day.  Playoffs will also continue on this day for the teams from Poway and North County at Escondido High School until division winners in the Gold and Silver Divisions have been determined in each age group for each site.

Finally, NFL Flag San Diego’s fall 2018 Super Bowl Sunday will take place on Sunday, November 11th.  The winners from the Gold and Silver Divisions for each of our sites in each age group will meet at Escondido High School.  The victorious teams in each age group will be crowed the Silver and Gold Super Bowl Champions.
